Solana is an active full range 2-way speaker featuring an in-house designed multiple entry waveguide. Currently in the prototyping phase.
Featuring 108dB continuous output in full-range mode, or up to 118dB when paired with a sub, this speaker offers flexible use-cases from DJ booth monitoring, domestic hifi, small-scale PA, and others.
Waveguide Profile

The unconventional waveguide structure is a novel approach to the idea of a multiple entry horn that maintains uniform pattern control. The alternating “waves” are dimensioned precisely to keep the polar response consistently wide while also providing the required acoustic impedance at the throat.

Due to the complex nature of this design, the waveguide profile was developed using a genetic algorithm that created randomized profiles and iteratively improved them over thousands of candidates.

Through a coordinated effort with Stract Studio, a process was developed that utilizes multi-step 3D printing with casting in a high strength resin to yield an extremely tough, heat resistant part suitable for the loads placed on this speaker through touring use.
Enclosure

Premium 12mm Baltic birch is used throughout the enclosure to meet audio industry standards for enclosure durability and performance. Standard metric fasteners and modular assembly ensure ease of repair or replacement of components, should the need arise.

Measuring at just 40×40×32cm, and weighing only 12.7kg, the Solana offers flexibility for deployment in numerous applications. A combo 35mm pole/M20 threaded mount allows for attachment to standard tripod mounts or subwoofer pole mounts.
Amplification & Processing

This design leverages DSP and FIR filtering to achieve ruler flat on-axis amplitude and phase response. The result is a highly revealing sonic character suitable for critical listening and monitoring uses.

An extremely low noise Hypex class D amplifier and DAC ensures that vanishingly minimal distortion is added to the signal chain.
